Glenn,
As a business owner myself, I wholeheartedly agree with what you said in your article. In all of its attempts to fix the “problems” with our economy, the government has managed to mess it up far worse than if it had just left it alone. The billions of dollars thrown at organizations that are too big to fail makes me sick to my stomach. That money in the hands of Americans would have done farm more to get this country out of the doldrums that it is in. I am certain the more the government tries to protect the consumer the more it harms the consumer with its unintended consequences of higher costs for products and services from the companies it is trying to protect the consumer from. I am certain of this because I am one of the businesses that has had to pass on higher fees to consumers because of the governments’ new regulations.

Excellent article. I have known several people that are exactly as you describe. I have always found it sad. In many ways they are really nice, talented people except for the negativity they carry with them everywhere. While many people try to help them see the bright side they eventually drive their friends away.

I experienced this problem recently with someone I thought was a friend. This time it did not turn out well. Glenn, I think you are right about it being a self-esteem issue.
